What Is Abacus?
Abacus is an instrument which has a frame with beads that sling on the roads and is used for teaching numbers to children and also for calculation purposes. Abacus was invented by Chinese to teach the students how to solve mathematical problems. It can be said that Abacus was the earliest form of digital computer. Abacus was helpful for teaching the basics of mental arithmetic, increasing the coordination between the right and left brain and thereby stimulating the brain cells.
Children were first taught to calculate on the abacus and then on calculator. They were made to learn addition, subtraction, multiplication and division through abacus. This activity helps in building a child’s mind speed, accuracy, concentration and strength leading to better understanding of mathematics and the ability learn other subjects better.
